WHAT IS OPENVPN CONNECT?

The OpenVPN Connect app does NOT independently provide a VPN service. It is a client application that establishes and transports data over an encrypted secure tunnel via the internet, using the OpenVPN protocol, to a VPN server.

WHICH VPN SERVICES CAN BE USED WITH OPENVPN CONNECT?

OpenVPN Connect is the only VPN client created, developed, and maintained by OpenVPN Inc. Our customers use it with our business solutions, listed below, for secure remote access, enforcing zero trust network access (ZTNA), protecting access to SaaS apps, securing IoT communications, and in many other scenarios.

- CloudConnexa™: This cloud-delivered service integrates virtual networking with essential secure access service edge (SASE) capabilities such as firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS), intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/IPS), DNS-based content filtering, and zero-trust network access (ZTNA). Using CloudConnexa™, businesses can quickly deploy and manage a secure overlay network that connects all of their applications, private networks, workforce, and IoT/IIoT devices without owning and operating a multitude of complex, hard-to-scale security and data networking gear. CloudConnexa™ can be accessed from more than 30 worldwide locations and uses patent-pending technologies to create a full-mesh network topology for improved performance and routing to private applications—hosted on multiple connected networks—simply by using the application name (for example, app.mycompany.com).

- OpenVPN Access Server: This self-hosted VPN solution for remote access and site-to-site networking provides granular access control and supports SAML, RADIUS, LDAP, and PAM for user authentication. It can be deployed as a cluster to provide active/active redundancy and for operating at high scale.

OpenVPN Connect can also be used to connect to any server or service compatible with OpenVPN protocol or running the open source Community edition.

HOW TO USE OPENVPN CONNECT?

OpenVPN Connect receives configuration information for the VPN server using a “connection profile” file. It can be imported into the app using a file with a .ovpn file extension or a website URL. The file or website URL and user credentials are provided by the VPN service administrator.

This app is useless without using iTunes sync. No version of iTunes for Linux means you can’t import certificate to your iphone.

Disconnecting

Keeps disconnecting me when the connection changes from 4G to WiFi (never the other way around). Kill switch not working and no notification... I didn’t have this issue with the previous version

IOS 11.4.1 issues

On iOS 11.4.1 it fails to auto-reconnect from sleep. Additionally it prevents wifi from connecting when connecting to same router which holds the vpn server.

Not working after last updates

The app worked well so far, but recently has problems while connecting to server. Logs on server side show error:

OpenSSL: error:140890C7:SSL routines:ssl3_get_client_certificate:peer did not return a certificate

The desktop version still works fine.

Informacja dla tych komu nie działa

Jeśli komuś nie chce zaimportować plików, nie wyswietla się zielony plusik i pojawia się błąd, informuje że aby poprawnie plik został zaimportowany, należy przenieść zawartość z plików z kluczami i certyfikatami do pliku z rozszerzeniem .ovpn ponieważ system ios nie jest w stanie sam zaimportować plików zadanych w pliku .ovpn. tak więc po ostatniej linijce wklejamy zawartość plikow ca, cert oraz key w formie

Not working with TCP and cipher disabled

Desktop version works but this one doesn't. When cipher field in config is blank it complains it should have an argument. Can connect over UDP but no network access, over TCP constant reconnections.

Very unreliable protection.

The application constantly disconnects from VPN leaving user unprotected. It is so prevalent that it created a habit in me to open it up and click "Connect" every time I unlock the phone to check my emails. Other than that it works very good.

Version 1.0.7 destroyed my connection with OpenVPN on QNAP NAS. Version 1.0.5 worked fine. After upgrade I losted VPN. Be carefully.

Easy to use and stable

It is good to add additional servers to default ovpn files as the app works then very stable hunting for working server without user intervention. Switching on/off a tunnel just after app start in 3G/LTE and then in WIFI allows smooth inter system auto switching in the background afterwards with tunnel active for dozens of hours.

It works well when we are connected but when for some reason it disconnects like lost of the signal it won't to connect back to VPN server even if we have reconnect configured.

Jak dla mnie największe zaskoczenie softwarowe 2013 roku.nie sądziłem ,ze 3rd party VPN provider (inny niz blogoslawione w systemie pptp,l2tp i ipsec) moze sie dogadać z Apple i zapewnić nie sandboxowany VPN.Brawo!

No problems with using except that it disconnects when wifi is going down with each lockscreen, but still 5 stars cause they can't change it and the application works as it's intended to :)
